Keep The Beats is a dedicated fund within Awyr Las: the North Wales NHS Charity, donations to the charity help fund additional equipment, facilities, spaces, training, research and special projects which affect patients, their families and staff members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am delighted to be endorsing the CPR Song and the interactive teaching resource pack. This bilingual resource will give primary schools the tools they need to meet the demands of the new lifesaving skills and first aid module within the curriculum from this September. Its focus is to introduce  basic CPR skills in an engaging way so that children are aware that they can help someone who has collapsed, is not breathing or not breathing normally. A cardiac arrest is an emergency situation, that can happen to anyone at any age, and  this resource will help to give our future generations the confidence to step in and help save lives<\/em>.<\/p>Dr Len Nokes, Emeritus Professor and Chair of Save a Life Cymru<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

About the CPR Song<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CPR Song was developed with the support of teachers and healthcare professionals and is aimed at both Key Stage One and Key Stage Two children. The song is supported by a lesson plan and workbook and is ideal for use in primary schools across the nation. Children will be able to practice the CPR Song in the classroom, at home or as an educational activity. Wherever you choose to learn the CPR Song, it\u2019s an easy and fun way to introduce children to the lifesaving skills of CPR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wales has some of the poorest survival rates in the UK for people experiencing an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Numerous studies show the positive effect CPR and early defibrillation can make to someone who needs it. What is a cardiac arrest<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A cardiac arrest is when the heart stops pumping blood around the body. CPR and the use of a defibrillator, before an ambulance arrives, doubles the chance of survival. Keep The Beats, supported by Save a Life Cymru, wants everyone in Wales to understand how to perform basic CPR and operate a defibrillator. This is the only way to re-start the heart’s natural beat and help save lives. Please use and share the resources on this page and lets make a nation of life-savers!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When somebody goes into cardiac arrest, taking the right action can make the difference between life or death. These new resources for primary schools provide a brilliant way for children to learn about lifesaving skills for the first time.
